Facilities FAQs

What can I do when I am at DIY Dogs Play?

It’s all about exercise and play for you and your dog. Feel free to bring balls, frisbees, training aids or agility equipment. While the dogs play on the grass, we ask the humans to stay on the pathways – especially when it’s wet or frosty. This helps the grass remain in perfect condition for the dogs to run and play on, and no muddy feet for you.

Each run is constructed using 6ft fencing around the edges and a solid fence down the middle. The perimeter fencing is specifically designed for animal safety. This “deer fencing” is designed to bounce if animals run into it, which is why we use it for our runs. The fencing has 15cm square gaps at the bottom, so it may not be suitable for tiny dogs and small pups who may be able to wriggle through the 10cm x 15cm square gaps.

Our perimeter fencing is just under 2m high. 2m is enough to secure most dogs, but if yours likes to climb (and you’ll know if they do), please be aware that a 2m high fence may not be enough to keep them in the run.
To keep the grass green and clean, we allow a maximum of 3 dogs per booking.
You can bring a dog trainer if you come in 1 car, and bring no more than 3 dogs and 4 people in total. We can’t accommodate large groups.
Yes, you can bring up to 3 other people.
Yes, each booking is for up to 3 dogs.

Yes, children are allowed in the dog fields, but they must be under your supervision at all times. They are only allowed in the area you have booked and for the time you have booked. They must not climb on any of the fencing.

Fresh water is available in each run (in a watering can), and there is also a tap at the front of the barn. In the interests of hygiene, if you think your dog will need a drink during your session, please bring your own water bowl.

All dog breeds are welcome in our dog runs. They must be micro-chipped, have vaccinations (kennel cough is optional), and be on a regular flea and worming program. All dogs are welcome, whether or not they are castrated or in season.

Please check your confirmation email to find which run you have been allocated. Orange Run is the first run, and the parking bay is to the right of the green barn. Yellow Run’s parking bay is to the left of the barn. Each booking comes with parking for one car within the secure run. There is no other parking on or off-site.

Each run has its own individual block-paved parking space, which is 4.5m wide by 8m long. The gates to the run will be open when you arrive. If they are closed or somebody is still in there at your allotted time, please call 07976724501.
Please ensure you don’t drive onto the grass when you park, and close the gates before you let your dog out.

The gates to the run will be open when you arrive. If they are closed or somebody is still in there, please check you are at the correct run. This will be in your confirmation email. If you’re at the correct run and it’s your allotted time, please call 07976 724 501.

We expect everyone who visits the site to treat it as they would their own garden. Looking after the grass, cleaning up after their dog, and respecting other customers’ experiences. Our field etiquette guidelines are here, and the Field Rules board is by your secure parking space on site.

Firstly, thanks for being so vigilant! Fences, gates, entrances, pathways, parking… whatever you feel might not be quite right, let us know, and we will fix it. Please call 07976724501 or email us to report an issue.

If it’s your dog’s, please pick it up. There is a bin, which is emptied every day, and spare poo bags within each parking area. If it’s a messy one, please pick up what you can and then use the watering cans provided to do the rest.

If you find any mess or digging that isn’t from your dog, please – “Flag and Call or Text” on 07976724501. There are flags along every fence within each run for you to place next to the offending area so we can deal with this after your visit.
